Garden Party Information
Thankyou for supporting your child as part of this year's Rose King and Queen retinue. The king and Queen for 2025 are:
Max Moreton (Y5) and Hazel Dale (Y5)
Their parents will be in touch with any information in addition to that detailed below.
- The Rose King and Queen is a church tradition and it is crucial that children are able to attend both the garden party (5th July) and church service (6th July).
- For the garden party, children should arrive at the front of school at around 12:10 and no later that 12:20 to begin the procession at 12:30. They will process from school, left out of the gate around St Oswald's Crescent and in through the School Lane gate of school. There will then be a a short presentation on stage. You are welcome to walk at the side of the procession, or wait at the School Lane gate. We do however ask, that you do not walk between children in the procession.
- We ask Crown Bearers to wear grey school shorts, trousers or skirt and a white shirt (we have the additional items needed). Rosebuds are asked to wear a light-coloured dress or shorts and top, a jacket or cardigan may also be useful depending on the weather. Some groups like to wear similar outfits, but there is no requirement to do so. Attendants have made their own arrangements - please contact Keith Dale (below) for further information.
- There will be an afternoon tea in the school hall for this year's retinue and visiting retinues. This is hosted by the King and Queen and their parents and the time will be advertised on the garden party programme.
- For the church service on Sunday 6th July, children should arrive at 10:10am, wearing the same outfits as for the garden party, and wait outside the church as they will process in. The service begins at 10:30am usually lasts around 1 hour.
Other local villages and schools will invite our retinue to their own services throughout the year and we ask our King and Queen to attend as many as possible, but other members of the retinue are also welcome to attend.
If you would like to be invited, or would like to contact our Rose King and Queen you can email Keith Dale (Hazel's dad) - kpdale@yahoo.co.uk
